How we work

With a total budget of 180 million DKK for 2023-2026, the fund supports new and existing partnerships between civil society actors in the Eastern Neighbourhood Countries and Denmark.

 

The fund operates within 6 thematic focus areas:
  • Green just transition
  • Culture
  • Gender
  • Labor market
  • Media
  • Youth

 

The fund’s work is divided into 3 tracks:

Track 1: Direct partnerships between the consortium and local partners in the Eastern Neighbourhood Countries

The consortium behind The New Democracy Fund has been active in the region for many years. The first track aims to use this experience to establish strong, sustainable collaboration, and exchange of experience between civil society organisations in the Eastern Neighbourhood Countries and Denmark.

 

Track 2: Flexible Response Mechanism – available funds for sudden needs and emerging opportunities

All civil society organisations from the Eastern Neighbourhood Countries with Danish partners and civil society organisations in Denmark with partners in the Eastern Neighbourhood Countries are invited to apply for the Flexible Response Mechanism with projects within the six thematic focus areas.

Flexible Response Mechanism has an annual budget of 5 million DKK.

Track 3: New Cooperation Mechanism – available funds for longer civil society cooperation

New Cooperation Mechanism supports longer cooperation and exchange of experience between NGOs, knowledge, cultural, and educational organisations in The Eastern Neighbourhood Countries and Denmark.

New Cooperation Mechanism has an annual budget of 10 million DKK.
