The New Democracy Fund is looking for a Project Coordinator for a new office in Vilnius, Lithuania, to strengthen networks and flow of information between Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the Northern part of the European Neighbourhood Countries and Danish and Baltic CSOs.

 

Join our mission to strengthen a democratically organized civil society and people-to-people exchange of experiences amongst Civil Society Organisations in Denmark and the European Neighbourhood Countries. As the Project Coordinator to the Northern Office, you will be responsible for informing and updating about relevant activities for Civil Society Organisations in the region and to build strong regional networks between Danish, Baltic and local CSOs, and be involved in the planning, implementation, and administration of The New Democracy Fund’s activities within the field of media, labour market, youth, culture, environment/climate, and gender.

Your main responsibilities:
  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with local and regional partner organisations and ensure that implementation is responsive to the needs of partners and beneficiaries.
  • Serve as the public face and primary point of contact for in-country donor missions and stakeholders.
  • Maintain strategic awareness of independent CSO issues in Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine, and a thorough understanding of challenges and opportunities facing CSOs in their work and political developments in the region.
  • To be the point of contact for partners and consortium members of The New Democracy Fund in the Baltic countries and the Northern part of the European Neighbourhood Countries, and beyond, and to proactively strengthen and widen existing networks.
  • To assist in the planning and implementation of regional cross-thematic activities for partners of The New Democracy Fund regarding gender mainstreaming, environment/climate, and other thematic areas.
  • To inform The New Democracy Fund consortium members and partners about events and activities in the region and create synergies with other programs, donors, and other actors of relevance to The New Democracy Funds objectives.
  • To offer guidance and support to the development or strengthening of new or existing partnerships between Danish and Baltic CSOs and CSOs in the region.
  • To offer capacity building and advice to grant recipients of the Rapid Response Fund and the New Cooperation Fund and support implementation of projects.
  • Management of the Northern office, including staff and activities.

  • A work contract that extends from October 2021 until December 2022 – with a possible extension.
Requirements:
  • An understanding of and interest in the current political and social situation in the Northern region of the European Neighbourhood Countries – and preferably the European Neighbourhood Countries in general. Knowledge of the Baltic countries is an advantage.
  • A high sense of responsibility, time management, and a proactive working approach.
  • Documented experience in project coordination, administration and/or organising events (working experience and/or as a volunteer).
  • An understanding of how to navigate, collaborate and ensure progress in projects in a politically sensitive context taking all necessary safety measures.
  • Proficiency in English, Danish and Russian. Proficiency in other languages of ENC countries and/or Baltic languages are an advantage.
  • Strong reputation for developing excellent collaborative working relationships with local counterparts, international organisations, and donors.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

The New Democracy Fund’s Northern Office will be located in Vilnius, Lithuania. You will start from 1st of October 2021 to December 2022. A local assistant may be hired according to the amount of work and support needed.
